Our clients understand the importance of strong governance in community organisations
“Governance Evaluator was the perfect time efficient, easy to use, quality and cost-effective program to engage in for evaluation and capability building for our annual journey for being an effective board. We chose to have the program externally led which led to very clear KPIs for the board to address. We were also delighted with the comprehensive support and education resources which we have used a lot. We were happy to re-register and would strongly recommend this program.”
Kylie Warne (President) & Bernadette Uzelac (CEO), Geelong Chamber of Commerce
“Although we hadn’t identified any specific governance issues to be addressed the Board saw Governance Evaluator as an opportunity to learn more about good governance and any gaps we might have. One attraction was that it was tailored specifically to our sector.
As a Chair, there are 2 aspects of the platform that I have found particularly helpful. Firstly the initial Board evaluation. This highlighted there were areas where as a Board we all saw deficiencies to address but also there were areas where there was significant variation within the Board members answers. This prompted conversations as to whether we had not communicated processes that were in place or had significantly different understanding of our roles and responsibilities.
Secondly was the resource library. We have made use of a number of these resources.
The annual evaluation process has enabled us to focus our attention on the governance aspects to address, and then forcing a structure through the action plan to follow up on what we planned to do. There is no doubt that it has highlighted issues that would not have occurred to us in the course of normal Board business.
Throughout the processes I have found the Governance Evaluator team to be responsive to questions and provided good support and guidance when required. I would recommend the Governance Evaluator for the reasons above and how it has helped us as a Board focus on our governance role, and address deficiencies.”
